Sisterhood
Huntington Jewish Center
510 Park Avenue
Huntington, NY, 11743
(631) 427-1089
Our goal is to deepen the understanding of Conservative Judaism among our members and their families, and to promote the welfare of our congregation and religious school through educational and community service activities, which are fueled by our fund raising efforts.
We enjoy ourselves and form close friendships as we work together to achieve our goals. We provide a network of support for each other and the congregation.
Make a connection through Sisterhood. Enjoy the opportunity of making a difference in the lives of others, and in your own as well.
Sisterhood is open to all Jewish women.
Dues are $40 per year, $25 for seniors.
Complimentary membership is given to new
HJC members for the first year.
Sisterhood is dedicated to the preservation of
Jewish values and traditions. These are some of
the many ways we accomplish our goals:
- Offer educational opportunities through our book group, trips to New York's Jewish sites and interesting programs and speakers.
- Provide support for the educational activities of the Religious School (supply and prepare food for the student holiday festivities, siddurim for aleph students, the tallit project, Jr. Congregation mystery trip, etc.)
- Keep in touch with our college students by sending them holiday baskets.
- Contribute to the Kol Nidre Fund of the HJC.
- Support the Jewish Theological Seminary through Torah Fund.
- Attend the national and branch conferences of Women's League for Conservative Judaism.
- Contribute to our Youth Group and Nursery School.
- When called upon, prepare the home at times of a death in the family.
- Sponsor the HJC Hanukkah Happening
- Provide baby-sitters for High Holidays and Festivals.
- Make available beautiful gifts and items for the home in our Judaica shop.
- Polish the ornaments in the Holy Ark for the High Holidays.
- Sponsor a Jewish Book Fair with items for all ages.
- Prepare delicious kiddush luncheons for your celebrations.
- Provide opportunities for fun and mingling as we raise money at our Fashion Show.
- Bake hamentaschen for sale and for the HJC Purim Festival.
- Prepare Purim baskets for sale and donation to elderly
- Give tsedaka to needy families
- Offer opportunities to make connections with other Jewish women of all ages, at all times of their lives.
